When each one of our kids turned two, something crazy happened.  Suddenly each toy in the entire massive supply in our toy room became “theirs.” Never mind that their brother had received the toy as a birthday gift ten years prior.

It always made for some ridiculous arguments. I would chuckle to myself when two of the younger children would both be claiming rightful ownership of a toy that I remembered purchasing at least fifteen years before they were born.

Do you suppose that’s how God looks at us when we claim some new wise revelation as “ours?” Proverbs 8:23 says I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.

The I personified in this verse is God’s Wisdom. God, by His Wisdom, established and settled His ways and His principles before He ever made our earth or mankind. He is the only source of true wisdom.

How foolish we must look when we try to argue with our Maker, figure our own way out, or look to someone else for the solutions to our troubles. His ways of solving our problems were in place even before they began. His answers to our questions are the only right answers! They are settled and sure.

That’s why as Frontline Moms we must press into His Wisdom on behalf of our families. Let the world and secular universities foolishly debate what was here before Genesis 1:1. We know the truth! He was here with His wisdom! And we must run after His wisdom daily with our whole hearts.

Lord, please forgive me and my family when we foolishly seek answers from any other source but You. You settled Your Wisdom before You even made Your world. Teach us Your ways. Help us, Lord, in the midst of a godless culture, to gain a heart of wisdom.

Now let’s meditate for 30 seconds on this verse:  Proverbs 8:23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.

Each Wisdom Wednesday post is inspired by a verse from the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds to the posting date.
